B!KE

Kids Bike Build

Since 2020, B!KE has held a spring Kids Bike Build, where kids bikes donated by the community are checked over and repaired by B!KE volunteers, then provided to partnering organizations free of charge, to be distributed to children and families who may not otherwise be able to obtain a bicycle.

Starting in 2025, we are expanding the program to engage more volunteers, extend our reach to more community partners, increase the number of bikes refurbished, and provide accompanying cycling education and safety equipment to bike recipients.

Do you have a bicycle to donate?

B!KE accepts donations of any kind of bike in any state of repair, as well as bike parts. For the Kids Bike Build we prefer kids bikes in repairable condition, but more damaged bikes can also be stripped for parts like pedals, saddles and tires. Kids bikes include any bike up to 24-inch wheel size.

Donations can be dropped off at the shop (293 George Street North) during business hours, or give us a call at 705-775-7227.

As a charity, we are proud to be able to offer official donation receipts for the appraised value of the donated bikes.

Want to become a Kids Bike Build volunteer?

Starting Fall 2025, we will be running regular Kids Bike Build events for new and existing shop volunteers to learn basic bike mechanics and refurbish bikes to support the Kids Bike Build program.

If you are interested in participating, please get in touch with Sunny Malik, Program Coordinator, at sunny@communitybikeshop.org.

Are you a community-oriented social service organization interested in becoming a KBB partner organization?

We welcome collaborations with other charity, not-for-profit, or grassroots organizations. Please contact Sunny Malik, Program Coordinator, at sunny@communitybikeshop.org.

B!KE’s Kids Bike Build program is generously supported by an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow grant.
