Community Bike Shop

Volunteer at B!KE

Volunteers are vital to B!KE’s ability to deliver on our mission and are an important part of the B!KE community. Volunteers serve on our Board of Directors, refurbish donated bikes, assist with teaching during Open Shop, help us keep the shop clean and organized, assist at special events and more.

Around the Community

During the Summer, we need help running a few of our community programs, especially Bike Valet at Music Fest and Folk Fest. This is a great way to support B!KE and biking in Peterborough, and requires no mechanical knowledge!

During the Fall, we’ve had a program called B!KE Bright, where we hand out lights to unlit riders in the eve. Having helping hands is essential for this program as well.

Get in touch by email to Jean for more information.

Inside the Shop

You don’t need to know a lot about bicycles to become a volunteer at B!KE. There is always cleaning, sorting, answering the phone are all things you could help with.

If you are interested in rebuilding bikes, you can learn as you go. Staff and other volunteers are here to help you build your skills.

Jean is our volunteer coordinator, please contact her via email if you are interested in volunteering.

Inside the Organization

B!KE is a registered charity that operates as a non-profit. That means there is a Board of Director that governs the organizations on a volunteer basis. We’re always looking for candidates from Trent University, equity seeking groups, and people with legal, or financial training to support and guide the broader director of our work.

Les is our Board Chair, please contact him via email if you would like more information.
